Welcome to my professional webpage! My name is Ashley Nelsen and I am currently a graduate student at Monterey Institute of International Studies. I will graduate August 2009 with my Master's of Arts in International Envrionmental Policy.
My professional webpage is designed for you to explore and get to know my professional backround, and educational experiences. As you browse through my portfolio you will find my resume, professional statement, core competencies I obtained while studying at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, and letters of recommendation written by my mentors.
I have extensive international experience from working abroad as both a Kiva Fellow, and Peace Corps Volunteer in Latin America and the Caribbean.
My Kiva Fellowship is a culmination of my master's education at MIIS. I participated in the International Professional Service Semester (IPSS) Program in conjunction with Kiva. This opportunity has allowed me to improve my Spanish fluency, expand my knowledge of current developmental work, and fortify the link between poverty and environmental degradation.
I look forward to working in the international, national, and local arenas of environmental policy and development.
